ABOUT THE LOCATION

Located in Madhya Pradesh, Khajuraho is a town filled with famous Hindu, Buddhist and Jain temples. These temples were built from 950 A.D. to 1050 A.D. during the Chandela dynasty of Central India. Today, these temples are a part of UNESCO world heritage site. People from all over the world come to this place to foresee the beauty of these temples. From the original 85 temples that were built, only 25 of them remains. These temples are the epitome of beauty and architecture. The temples are built with minute details that were carved in the walls. Each temple tells a story that intrigues people and amazes them.

1. Vishwanatha Temple

A temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is also popularly known as Lord Vishwanatha. This place is an architectural amazement with the large statues that the temple walls holds. The temple walls is carved with different kinds of statues all around. All the statues tells a story from the Hindu Mythology. The beauty of these statues are almost unmatchable.

2. Kandariya Mahadev Temple

This temple is also dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple’s most dominatingly attractive feature is the main tower that is 102 ft high. This temple is also called as the "largest and grandest temple of Khajuraho." At the entrance of the temple is an intricately carved garland made from a single stone. The temple has a cave like atmosphere that is in a high contrast from its outer building.

3. Devi Jagdambi Temple

It is a temple that is located in the north of the Khajuraho Group of Temples. The decoration of the temple is very fine. The temple has numerous carvings. Three bands of carvings encircle the entirety of the temple. In the sanctum is a large image of the Devi.

4. Nandi Temple

It is a temple that is dedicated to the Nandi the bull who serves as the mount of Lord Shiva. It is located in the West part of the Khajuraho Group of Temples. The carvings in this temple’s walls are mostly of elephants. On the outer roof rests a large carved portrait of the Lord Shiva with a Trishul.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE DECIDING

POINTS NOT IN FAVOUR

1. A disaster in the summer

The photoshoot can be a disaster during the summer season due to the open location of the shoot. The sun would be shining down very brightly on you. This can come in the way of the shoot.

2. Commercial

The Khajuraho Group of Temples is a commercial place and hence you can’t get privacy during the shoot. As the time for the festivals arrives, so do many people at Khajuraho. So, make sure that your trip is well planned to experience a place with less crowd.

3. Drones

Drones are not allowed in the temple premises. You won’t be able to get a 360-degree photoshoot. This is a downer during the photoshoot but you can have an awesome photoshoot with the right photographer with you. So, choose wisely!
