The India Gate is a war memorial, which was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who was the most popular designer and Europe’s foremost architect for the war memorials at that time It brings the image of the architectural style of the Triumphal Arch, following the style of Arch of Constantine outside the Colosseum in Rome, Arc de Triomphe in Paris and sometimes it is also compared to the Gateway of India in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

A simple structure was built beneath the Memorial Archway, capped by a war helmet and bounded by four eternal flames. This structure is known as Amar Jawan Jyoti or the Flame of the Immortal Soldier. It is India’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier since 1971.

The preferred time to visit India Gate is the mornings or the evenings (in summers) as it is an open area and the hot sun can spoil the shoots in mid-day. Early winter morning can be foggy and can hinder the pre wedding shoot as well. Generally, the sunset and night visit is preferable as to enjoy the view of the India Gate.
